报告摘要:
Inflatable aerofoils have a number of advantages over traditional rigid aerofoils: they are lightweight, durable, and can be stowed away when not in use, making them ideal for use in small unmanned aircraft. It is thus important to be able to predict the deformation of these aerofoils in response to the airflow around them.
In this talk we develop a two-dimensional model of a thin elastic aerofoil in an inviscid uniform stream, and present a numerical method to obtain the equilibria shapes. We then introduce a boundary layer to determine the viscous drag, with unsteady viscous simulations used to model the turbulent wake downstream of the boundary layer separation. Finally, we introduce an internal structure to the aerofoil and examine how this affects the aerodynamic properties.
